Ausgangslage

After prolonged periods of heavy rain and strong winds a large quantity of material was mobilised from the slope down onto the B4286. The road was closed for safety concerns whilst any remaining material was removed by hand. Traffic management was then installed and the road was re-opened as a single lane under traffic management.

Working closely with the local borough council, Geotechnical contractor Quantum Geotechnical and specialist rope access teams at iBEX a provisional stabilisation solution was put forward. This stabilisation utilised the excellent properties of TECCO® GREEN for both strength and greening capabilities. Quantum Geotechnical employed Remedy Geotechnics to ensure the provisional design was suitable, and all was agreed.

Geologie

Brithdir Member - Sandstone. Sedimentary Bedrock formed approximately 308 to 310 million years ago in the Carboniferous Period.

These sedimentary rocks are fluvial in origin. They are detrital, ranging from course- to fine-grained and form beds and lenses of deposits reflecting the channels, Floodplains, and levees of a river.

Massnahme

After harvesting of all trees on the full slope and specialist removal of tree stumps and roots on the slip plane, drilling works started from top down. In total 19 rolls of TECCO® GREEN, were installed with 150 soil nails.
