Ausgangslage
The first-ever NASCAR street circuit race (Grant Park 220) was held in Chicago, Illinois in 2023. The race venue is located next to Michigan Lake and the racing cars will pass the S. Columbus Dr., Michigan Ave. and S. Lake Shore Dr.
The circuit is 3.5km (2.2 mi) long and has 12 turns - the track runs mainly through Chicago’s downtown and Grand Park with the Clarence F. Buckingham Memorial Fountain.
Massnahme
Geobrugg Motorsport worked closely with NASCAR to ensure an appropriate installation of the debris fence panels and concrete barriers.
Our services included:
- delivery of molds and key elements to locally manufacture 1'300 concrete barrier elements
- barrier production training at a local precast company
- supervision during the barrier and panel installation
Geobrugg was permanently on-site during the circuit installation to support the local installation team and consult every involved party.
