Initial situation
In order to provide protection to a national road around Klokova Mountain, a rockfall protection system was installed. Installation allowed the advance drilling, blasting, and construction of a twin bore tunnel system; while minimizing the impact to travel in the area. National Road (EO5) is the only North-South connection to the mainland, therefore, it is of high importance for the local economy.
Description
Geobrugg took over the responsibility of Contractor for rockfall protection installation. Other works included: rock scalling, rock bolting and finally, the installation of a wide range of rockfall barriers, including the GBE and RXE.
