myGeobrugg
True to this guiding principle, we have been developing and manufacturing protection solutions since 1951. High-tensile steel wire nets and matching services monitor and protect against natural hazards such as rockfall, landslides, debris flows, avalanches or coastal erosion. They ensure safety in mining and tunneling, on motor sports tracks, in industry, and in test facilities. With experience, a spirit of research, continuous internal training and close cooperation with research institutes, we drive innovation and industry standards.
More than 500 specialists work for Geobrugg worldwide. Production facilities on all continents, as well as a presence in over 50 countries, stand for proximity to the customer and rapid project implementation - from requirements analysis to acceptance. Geobrugg, headquartered in Romanshorn, Switzerland, is an independent company within the BRUGG Group.
1. Protection against natural hazards
- Rockfall protection: Our rockfall protection barriers stop impacts with energies up to 12 500 kJ.
- Slope stabilization: Netting anchored in the ground with soil nails and spike plates secures the slope. The mesh is almost invisible and favors revegetation.
- Protection against landslides and debris flows: Our solutions provide particularly efficient and sustainable protection against these natural hazards.
- Avalanche prevention: Our flexible protection system reliably holds back snow masses. In the snow-free period, this solution also provides effective rockfall protection.
2. Hydraulic Engineering
Our solutions protect marine coasts, waterways, and infrastructure, including sea cables, pipelines, harbors, and underwater solutions.
3. Mining/tunneling
Geobrugg meshes and mechanical installation aids are crucial to ensuring safety and efficiency in mining and tunneling worldwide, protecting people, machines, and infrastructure in critical zones. This reduces work interruptions.
4. Race Circuits/Motorsport barriers and fences
Our wide range of FIA-homologated and accepted protection solutions protects spectators and drivers at world-renowned racetracks. Our road fences are also suitable as a temporary solution in road construction and rockfall protection.
5. Road Fences
Geobrugg road fences keep people and infrastructure safe on construction sites, during temporary road closures, at events and in other areas. The rapid system setup, combined with high energy absorption, presents an ideal solution for many applications. The system has passed all FIA homologation tests for motorsports.
6. Special solutions for industry, research, building security or defense
In the area of impact protection, our systems prevent flying/falling debris, as well as accelerated objects of all kinds. Other solutions protect against breakouts or break-ins.
7. Asset Management and Monitoring
Innovation as a tradition
We constructed our first installations made of wire rope net in 1951 as protection systems against avalanches. These avalanche-prevention structures were exposed to rockfall during snow-free periods, and they successfully withstood the rockfall. Noticing this, we came up with the idea of using wire rope nets for rockfall protection as well. In 1958, the first rockfall protection structure made up of wire rope nets was constructed in southern Switzerland – the beginning of a unique success story. Research & Development
Solutions for all hazards
In the decades that followed, the product range continued to expand: We developed solutions to protect against natural hazards such as landslides and mudflows, as well as avalanche-prevention structures. In addition to these, more and more application areas have opened up. As a result, Geobrugg nets are now also used in motorsport to secure tunnels and protect against impacts. Since 2008, Geobrugg has traded as an independent corporation within the Brugg Group, establishing itself as a market leader.
In 1951, the "Kabelwerke Brugg" (now BRUGG Group) started with nets for avalanche prevention in the city of Brugg, Switzerland. Further developments continued at Fatzer AG in Romanshorn. Geobrugg AG, as a legal entity, was officially founded in May 1991 in Romanshorn. Until today, the company has its largest site there.
More than 500 specialists work for Geobrugg worldwide.
By the end of 2025, our safety solutions are produced in eight countries: Switzerland, the USA, Chile, Australia, China, Japan, India and South Africa.
