Initial situation
Building on or near slopes often requires excavation at the toe to increase the space which may cause instabilities. Due to their location, the hill sites also inherit any upslope hazards. This is the case with the following two Waiheke island residential projects where protection against rockfall, shallow landslides and active stabilization of the excavation is required.
Description
We installed SL-100 barriers to protect the properties from shallow landslides and rockfall. TECCO mesh was installed below the barrier to support the excavation cuts. TECMAT on one of the sites was also used to promote revegetation. The properties used TECCO G65/3 Stainless and TECCO 65/4 Ultracoating to meet the required design life.
