Initial situation
Continuous rockfall with blocks of up to 8 m³ presented a high risk for drivers on the road from Cuenca to the touristic city of Gualaceo. Frequently, the road had to be closed on the stretch El descanso - El Paute, when rock blocks had come down on the Tahual slope.
Description
Today an RXE-5000 rockfall barrier controls the rockfall events.
