Initial situation

In Götzis, Austria, a residential area was exposed to severe rockfall hazards. The town council had to act fast after geological surveys revealed the potential for even more significant rockfalls. The options? Either protect the buildings or abandon them.

Description

Geobrugg’s strongest rockfall barrier, with an absorption capacity of 10,000 kJ, was installed to ensure the 70 apartments remain habitable. Two parallel rows of barriers have been set up to increase the protection.

Additionally, 1 ROCCO-2000 barrier and the Geobrugg monitoring device GUARD have been installed on all barrier types at this location.
