Initial situation

A significant landslide and continuous rockfall were issues for the Cuenca-Molleturo road at km 49. Rockfall and landslide protection were necessary for the safety of the road. Thus, the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works carried out a large-scale project to stabilize the slope with terraces.

Description

In addition to the terraces, TECCO mesh prevents surface landslides, and a dynamic rockfall protection barrier will hold back future rockfall.

Geobrugg and Pivaltec S.A. supplied a GBE-100A-R rockfall barrier with a total length of 120 meters and a TECCO G65/3 system covering an area of 2800 m².
