Cheddar Gorge, Cliff Road

Description

Working with SRGeo, rockfall modelling was undertaken, and a 1000 kJ energy-capacity rockfall barrier was required. Bounce height was low due to the quantity of trees and soft materials overlying the bedrock. The proximity of the Gorge walls at the Easterly extent of the site leads to a rockface connection. Occasional gully features required specialist materials for closing out the potential for rocks to roll under the barrier line.
