Year of installation

2022

Initial situation

The Rioseco reservoir is a major source of water supply for central Asturias. Attached to the reservoir are the Rioseco DWTP facilities which supply drinking water. The facilities are critical for the population of central Asturias. Rock falls and instabilities on the slopes endangered the access road, the property and thus the workers.

Description

The protective solution combines different structures: TECCO Drape in the upper zone to direct the rocks towards an intermediate berm, where dynamic barriers of 1,000 kJ and different heights (GBE-1000A and RXE-1000) were placed. TECCO System with 20 mm diameter bolts in a 3x3 grid was installed in the lower bank. Two reinforcements with TECCO G65/4 and wire ropes were placed to hold two very vertical and disintegrated areas.

Installed systems
- TECCO Drape (3.335 m²)
- TECCO System (3.393 m²)
- GBE-1000A (H: 5 m, L: 147,5 m; H: 4 m, L: 14 m)
- RXE-1000 (H: 6 m, L: 20,5 m)
