Rockfalls occurred again and again along the Weesen-Betlis connecting road. Accordingly, smaller protective structures were built (wooden palisades, e.g.). Again and again, falling rocks damaged these protective structures. In 2016, a walker was hit on the shoulder by a falling stone. A detailed evaluation by the geologist followed this accident.
To achieve the greatest possible safety for pedestrians and motorists, cantilevered shoring with supports up to 8 meters long was built in 2019. The advantage of the shoring is the protection over the entire road width, including bypass points.
