Initial situation
Behind Baselstrasse in the city of Lucerne, at the Gütsch, there is a steep slope (45° +/-15°) in the immediate vicinity of apartment buildings. Records of past events show a clear and obvious risk potential for impact from falling rock, toppled trees and shallow landslides.
Description
To minimize disruption of the unstable soil, the barriers were installed on specially design drainage groundworks. The posts were placed no more than 8 m apart to further stabilize the drainage foundation.
