12500 kJ tested: The world's strongest rockfall barrier

Geobrugg's RXE-12500 rockfall barrier withstood a 25-ton concrete block impacting at 115 km/h (71.46 mph), absorbing a record of over 12,500 kilojoules of energy. This world-first offers new possibilities in rockfall protection.

Technical Conference 2025 in Guatemala

On March 25 and 26, the Geobrugg Technical Conference 2025 was held in Guatemala City, organized by Geobrugg Central America for the fourth consecutive year. 
This year, 63 engineers and experts in the field of geotechnics and geohazard from Guatemala, Costa Rica, Chile, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Panama participated. 

Attendees were able to exchange knowledge and experiences at a Latin American level about the flexible steel systems manufactured by Geobrugg.
The event was sponsored by AMSIG and Geobrugg. We are also grateful for the organizational collaboration of our regional partners: Garzaro & Asoc., Warco-Geobrugg, IDM, ICA and Geobrugg Andina.
We will meet again next year.

Geobrugg first on the world's largest debris flow test facility

Together with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment (IMHE), Geobrugg is the first company to test debris flow barriers in the world’s largest debris flow test facility in Dongchuan, China.

Since 1999 Geobrugg has been active in Japan. Over the years, we have been continuously growing and establishing our solutions in the Japanese market. In November 2024, a move to a larger production hall was necessary to continue meeting Japanese demand.

Geobrugg Japan K.K. is today located in Toyofuta, near Kashiwa.

For our high-tensile chain-link meshes an EPD (Typ III environmental declaration) has been prepared, verified and approved by an independent verifier. It has been registered and published at the International EPD System. This milestone reflects our commitment to sustainability and product quality.

Leading the Way: The BRUGG Group's First Sustainability Report

Until 2024, only a few companies were legally required to publish a sustainability report. However, with the introduction of a new EU regulation known as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), this number is set to rise dramatically. The increase will see the number of companies obligated to report, expand from approximately 11,000 to around 50,000 across the EU. The BRUGG Group will be impacted by this change starting in 2029.

Geobrugg South Africa opened its first high-strength steel wire mesh production facility. The mesh known as TECCO® is used worldwide for slope stability, rockfall and debris flow protection. It also protects miners on all continents.

Geobrugg has launched a new software called ATTERO to dimension its rockfall attenuator systems. The tool will assist geotechnical designers in calculating the ideal solution for their attenuator barriers.
