Frequent rockfall onto the Hurunui Bluff Road caused a hazard to the road users.
A fixed post rockfall protection attenuator was installed to redirect and guide rocks down to the toe of the slope. The posts were spaced 15 - 20 metres and placed on the high spots. The drape length was 7 - 9 metres. A support rope separation was installed halfway along, and a bottom rope was installed to control tail kick out. The system was installed efficiently using an excavator drill and Knuckle boom.
