myGeobrugg
Our client required a rockfall barrier due to an to identified potential rockfall hazard from large boulders across the top of a steep slope above the development. The design team engineers determined that potential seismic activity and associated rockfall should be anticipated and mitigated above an adjacent stretch of neighborhood roadway and sidewalk.
Geobrugg assisted a local contractor with the installation of an 80m long, 2m high GBE-500A-R rigid post barrier. The posts were spaced at 10m spans. This barrier was chosen for its ability to absorb the energy of large, slow moving rocks (up to 500kJ) that have the potential to roll more than fall. Rigid post design removes the need for tieback anchors to save time and reduce drilling costs. Our project specialist, Andi Buechi, oversaw placement of the posts, mesh panels, and other required system elements. The installation of the posts and fence onto the pre-drilled and grouted anchored post plinths took only two days to complete with a team of four people.
