The Transmission Gully Motorway is a 27-kilometer-long, four-lane motorway to the north of Wellington, New Zealand. The northern section passes through a steep-sided valley with several drainage culverts orientated perpendicular to the road. A protection solution was required to moderate the risk of localized overflow in the event of a blocked channel.
A series of short SL-100 Shallow landslide barriers above the culvert to protect the motorway against localized dynamic surges. A total of seven barriers were Installed, six single-field systems 6 meters wide and one three-field barrier 15 meters in length.
