The Magarigawa Club is Asia’s first private driving club. Just one hour from Tokyo away, it is beautifully placed in the mountains of Chiba and offers a unique race track, hiking areas, a first-class restaurant and spa facilities. The track is designed by the world-renown F1 circuit design team of Tilke Engineers and Architects and has a length of 3,5 km. What makes it unique is the best use of the landscape, leading to an uphill section of 20% and a downhill of 18%. The cumulative elevation difference is 250 meters. It has 22 corners and a straight of 800 meters where top speed can be experienced.
As safety for the drivers is paramount for this project, Geobrugg, the leading company for F1 debris fences, was awarded for Magarigawa. Geobrugg delivered 2682 meters of the FIA homologated debris fence with 6 meters post spacing and 44 meters of the FIA homologated mobile debris fence.
One of the challenges was the uphill and downhill sections. Detailed layout design and tailor-made posts, diagonal struts, and mesh were done by Geobrugg to follow the terrain and protect the drivers as best possible.
After installation training by Geobrugg, local crews were enabled to install the debris fence systems.
