Situazione iniziale
A rock and tree fall hazard was identified during the consent stage of the property demolition and rebuild. To mitigate the risk, a custom rockfall barrier was required for the narrow 20m wide site.
Descrizione
The system selected is a 15 metres long, 3 metres high GBE-1000A with drag nets and custom narrow (2 meters) lateral anchors.
Custom features
Narrow 2 metres spaced laterals
The lateral anchors spacing was reduced from 4.5 to 2.0 metres to enable maximum property protection. The load cell data from the 1:1 testing enabled the increased anchor forces to be calculated and designed for drag nets.
Drag Nets
Drag nets were required for the shorter two field barrier providing the required deflection to absorb the designed 1000 kJ energy event.
Corrosion protection
The site is within 100 metres of the sea which requires superior corrosion protection.
Flexible anchor heads
Type III flexible heads were used to provide a tested and rated connection from the support ropes to the self-drilling anchors.
