Following slope instability alongside the railway line in Wrabness, a design to stabilise the slope was put forward using soil nails in combination with Geobrugg GREENAX mesh.
Geology of the bedrock was made up of the Thames Group, comprising weak sands, clays and siltstones with areas of overlying alluvium and sands and gravel deposits
The situation used a practical solution of combining the mesh and nailing solution, with burying the top and bottom of the mesh in trenches at the top and bottom of the railway.
The mesh and nails needed to work around a king post wall were also installed as part of the works.
