Geobrugg Becomes the First Circuit Safety Solution Provider to Achieve Prestigious FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation

14 Апрель 2026

Romanshorn, Switzerland
Geobrugg has been awarded the Three-Star Environmental Accreditation by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). This achievement makes Geobrugg the first circuit safety solution provider in the world to receive the highest level of recognition from motorsport’s governing body for its commitment to environmental sustainability.
The FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme is a rigorous framework designed to help motorsport and mobility stakeholders measure and enhance their environmental performance. The Three-Star rating is reserved for those demonstrating Best Practice and a commitment to continual improvement through a robust environmental management system.

A Milestone for Motorsport Safety
While Formula 1 teams, circuit designers, and others have previously achieved the FIA’s Three-Star rating, Geobrugg has also achieved accreditation, marking a significant expansion of sustainability standards into the safety infrastructure sector. This milestone underscores Geobrugg’s proactive role in the FIA’s broader goal of making the entire motorsport ecosystem Net Zero by 2030.

Achieving the FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation is a proud moment for us,” said Jochen Braunwarth, Director of Motorsport Solutions at Geobrugg. “Sustainability is no longer an option; it is a necessity. As the first safety solution provider to reach this level, we are proving that high-performance track safety and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. This recognition validates our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint while maintaining the world-class protection our partners expect.”

Commitment to Best Practice
To achieve the rating, Geobrugg underwent a comprehensive audit of its operations, evaluating 17 criteria including energy consumption, supply chain management, transport planning, and waste reduction. Key highlights of Geobrugg’s environmental strategy include:
• Resource Efficiency: Utilizing high-tensile steel that offers superior strength with less material weight, reducing the carbon intensity of transport and installation.
• Carbon Reduction: Implementing localized production and streamlined logistics to minimize emissions across global projects.
• Circular Economy: Focusing on the longevity and recyclability of steel components, ensuring that safety barriers provide a multi-decade life cycle.

FIA Commendation
The FIA’s President and environmental commission have consistently praised stakeholders who align with the federation’s sustainability roadmap. By joining the elite group of Three-Star accredited organizations — alongside all Formula 1 teams and circuits, global partners and other major stakeholders — Geobrugg reinforces its position as a pioneer in the industry.
