The project is located along the Bhanupali–Bilaspur–Beri New Railway Line, spanning across the states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in northern India. The specific work site, Tunnel T10P1, lies within a hilly and geologically sensitive stretch near the boundary of Rupnagar District and Bilaspur District.
This region forms part of the Shivalik hill range, characterized by steep slopes, fractured rock formations, and susceptibility to erosion and rockfall activity. The terrain is influenced by seasonal rainfall, which further contributes to slope instability and necessitates robust protection measures.
Slope stabilization has been carried out using high-tensile steel wire mesh TECCO G65/4 and spike plates, selected for its superior strength and load-bearing capacity in fractured and weathered rock conditions. The mesh provides active stabilization by securely holding loose and unstable rock blocks against the slope surface.
The mesh combined with rock anchors and spike plates to ensure uniform load distribution across the system. This combination enables efficient transfer of forces from the unstable rock mass to the anchoring system, preventing localized failures and enhancing overall stability.
The high-strength characteristics of the mesh also allow for optimized anchor spacing, while its durability ensures long-term performance with minimal maintenance in the challenging site conditions.
