In 2017, Oerlikon Industrial History Association acquired the venerable electric locomotive Krokodil from the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The famous locomotive was extensively refurbished over three years.
At the exhibition site in the old industrial quarter of Oerlikon, the locomotive was to be accessible to visitors and, at the same time, protected from vandalism and the weather.
Geobrugg is asked by 10zu8 architects to participate in the design and to supply and install the mesh (G65/3) in various panel shapes.
With the combination of panels made of mesh and plexiglass, the crocodile remains clearly visible despite the housing. Access is ensured by a gate.
The enclosure is about 6 meters wide and 28 meters long.
