Initial situation

During the Porsche GT3 Cup in 2019, driver Denis Dirani impacted the tire barrier, guardrail combination at the end of the runoff in Turn 1. The car went over the barrier and the outer perimeter fence. Luckily the driver remained unharmed. Yet, safety at the end of the runoff in Turn 1 had to be upgraded.

Description

Track operators decided to install an FIA homologated debris fence - protecting the service road and keeping race cars on the track.

A mobile debris fence was the ideal solution for the limited space between the guardrail and the outer perimeter fence, where also the service road is located. With a mobile debris fence, the first line of protection, the concrete barrier, and the second line of protection, the debris fence, are combined in one system, thus saving space. Furthermore, the mobile debris fence is fast to install, ideal for the short winter break at the Circuito Estoril.

After a week of preparation, it took Geobrugg and NORDBETON two days only to install the mobile debris fence.
