2023
In 2012, the fall of some rock blocks on the Via dell’Amore forced the closure of the path that runs sheer to the sea and crosses the Cinque Terre National Park in the Italian region Liguria.
This long and demanding project, financed by the Region of Liguria, included the construction of safety works to protect the footpath from falling rocks, the consolidation of some areas of the rocky slope, and an artificial tunnel.
After eleven, it is finally time to reopen the initial section of one of the world’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

To protect the Via dell’Amore from rockfall risk, the contractor, Gheller, installed our ROCCO barriers (1000-2000-3000 kJ). The peculiarity of these barriers lies in the fact that they have been subjected to a series of additional tests, compared to those required by current regulations, to verify the behavior even in conditions of abnormal and eccentric impact, thus raising the standards of quality and especially of safety.
Furthermore, given the highly aggressive environment due to continuous exposure to saltiness, it was chosen to install TECCO G65/4 INOX mesh for slope stabilization, which guarantees maximum performance in terms of tensile strength and puncture resistance.
