Below the village of Embd in the Swiss canton of Valais, a rock mass of about 300 - 400 m3 fell after persistent rainfall. Underneath is an important railway line (approx. 100 trains daily). Fortunately, RXE-1000 barriers were installed here about two years ago: These stopped at least 40 blocks of up to 2 m3. Despite these strong impacts, their protection effect for various buildings, roads and the train route was found to be good by experts - even without any minor maintenance work still required.
