myGeobrugg
Welcome back to another episode of Faces of Geobrugg, a series where we present the people behind our company’s success.
In this interview, Murat Diemer will give us an insight into his role at Geobrugg.
You’ve been with Geobrugg for a while now, initially starting in product management and later moving into digitalization. Can you share what motivated this transition and how your role has evolved?
As the product management has maintained a product configuration tool (CPQ), it was close to asking me, although I had absolutely no IT background. So I had to learn it and now I’ve been responsible for the configurators at DIGI and in BC/ERP for 4 years.
Having experience in both product management and digitalization, how do you see these two areas complementing each other? What synergies have you been able to leverage between them?
In my opinion, the CPQ should be the tool par excellence for product management. By rolling it out to our other companies, we learn more not only about local products and product variants but also about local demands.
You’re also quite well-known within Geobrugg despite not being active on social media. What do you think it is about your approach to work and relationships that has made you such a familiar face to everyone?
I am well-known:)? I personally would say that I really do have a true interest in our colleagues and in people out there and in their questions and concerns too, regardless of whether it affects my work or not. And I try to pass on the “GEO feeling” that I was given at the beginning.
You’ve played a key role in organizing the basic training and academies for international employees. What inspired you to take this responsibility, and what do you think makes your training sessions effective?
I think the foundation is the most important thing! Just like a house (or barrier If the foundation and anchors are bad, you won’t be able to build a garden shed on it. I also meet people from all over the world, and everyone is highly enriching. From a human point of view, we need to listen to each other and move closer together instead of turning against each other. This is what inspires me.
What’s been the most rewarding part of your work at Geobrugg so far? Are there any projects or achievements that you’re especially proud of?
The best thing is the memories I can take home with me! And these memories all involve people, i.e., my colleagues. GEO-Summit in Canada is unbeatable, but every single basic training session is worth its weight in gold. My team motivates me every day. It’s priceless.
Geobrugg is known for its innovative solutions and strong team culture. How do you see your role in contributing to both aspects?
I’m probably one of those who like to challenge both the loudest. Question it to improve it!
Looking ahead, what are your personal and professional goals within Geobrugg? Are there any upcoming projects or initiatives that you’re particularly excited about?
Personally, I just want to be a good father to my children. The rest is a side dish. Professionally, I never look too far ahead. At the moment, I want to help GEO become more efficient and make life easier for our colleagues around the world.
Before we wrap up, could you share a fun fact about yourself that most people at Geobrugg might not know?
I am extremely shy and rather introverted. No joke. By now at the latest, some readers will be laughing.
Thank you so much for sharing your insights and experiences with us.
