The section of Highway 111 near Mile Marker 2 located near Ojo Calienete, New Mexico required rockfall mitigation. In order to mitigate the rockfall hazard, the New Mexico Department of Transportation (District 5) consulted with Golder & Associates to develop a plan. Based upon the site conditions, Golder recommended an attenuator system.
Geobrugg provided 180 feet attenuator system. The attenuator system infrastructure consists of a 2 meters high RXI-050 system using a SPIDER® S4-130 high-tensile steel wire net from ground level to the post height. A SPIDER® S4-230 high-tensile wire net is used for the drape, which extends to approximately 40 feet below the post section down the face of the slope.
