Situation de départ

The Orange County Fair Speedway (OCFS) nicknamed The House of Power, boasts a long history of dirt track auto racing where many legendary northeast dirt track drivers have tested the boundaries of the hard clay. The speedway has been home to many dirt track modified drivers such as Frankie Schneider, Ray Brown, Will Cagle, Buzzie Reutimann, and drivers of today are still testing their limits on the 5/8-mile track; like Brett Hearn, Rich Eurich, Danny Johnson, and Jerry Higbie.

For the 100th anniversary of the facility, the owner decided to upgrade safety. Together with Geobrugg options were analyzed:
The facility should be safer and improve the spectator experience providing a better view of the dirt oval.

Description

After a site visit, fence height and section length along the oval were determined. Existing access gates should be taken into consideration for the design of the new system.

A modified debris fence with 6m post spacing was chosen. In an initial phase, a reduced number of cables will allow safety upgrades of the facility if required in the future.

Furthermore, the 6m post spacing debris fence is a tested solution with an improved vision to the oval hence increasing spectator experience.

Geobrugg motorsport provided the construction layout design, manufacturing, logistics, and installation training for the general contractor. Within a short time, the debris fence was installed, and the facility ready to host the 100th-anniversary race.
