Situation

Sea lions, sharks and other predators pose a constant hazard to many fish farmers all over the world. Traditionally, Nylon nets are used to keep this predators away from the precious farmed fish. However, nylon nets cannot provide a complete  protection and are causing significant operational costs.

Description

For better protection and for lowering the overall production costs, Geobrugg has developed a unique stainless steel anti-predator net: The AQUA F80/2.

In April 2015, this AQUA F80/2 was installed for the first time in a salmon farm in Region XI, Chile. Thanks to the experienced installation company Puerto Red S.A. the installation went very smoothly and was accomplished in a couple of weeks.

This installation provided us with more valuable information and laid the base for successful installations in more salmon farming centers in Chile in 2015.

Installed net: AQUA F80/2, 14.0m x 108.0m per roll

Installed net area: 34'158 m²

Roll-out time per roll: 10 to 12 minutes

Time for connecting two rolls in water: approx. 2 hours
