Year of installation

2013

Initial situation

The original debris fence was installed during the construction of the race track. After more than 12 years of racing, including several incidents, the SIC management decided to replace part of the debris fence with the new Geobrugg Debris Fence. The Geobrugg Debris Fence is the only debris fence fully tested in accordance to the FIA Institute test requirements and meets the stringent requirements made by SIC management.

The old debris fence was dismantled and the new Geobrugg Debris Fence installed in the shortest possible time.

Description

At Turn 1, a particularly demanding “snail bend”, a Geobrugg Debris Fence with a height of 4.5 meters was planned and approved. The high-strength ROMBO® G80/4 mesh enabled a rope spacing of 50 centimeters, which improved the view to the race track and reduced the installation time.
