Initial situation

The slope at the western portal of the Sendall tunnel was affected by rockfall events, which represented a high risk for pedestrians and motorists travelling daily in the touristy port area of St. George. At the top of the embankment there is also a Presbyterian church from the XIXth century, which has been restored for its historical and touristical significance.

Geology

Colluvium soil of sand soil with rock blocks.

Description

The designer decided to install high tensile TECCO® G65/3 mesh as a drape due to it's unique features, low maintenance requirements and corrosion protection.

As a direction protection of the Presbyterian Church, ca. 20 meters long retaining wall was constructed just below, along its western boundry.
