Initial situation

During 2021, due to meteorological events that activated different streams in the San Alfonso region (San José de Maipo), a series of floods were triggered that affected the residents of the area.

These floods had highly destructive consequences for the community, road infrastructure and services, so the water works department requested as an emergency measure the installation of a system to mitigate future events of these characteristics.

Description

Considering the number of activated streams, the amount of material dragged by the debris flow and the size of these streams, it was decided to install ten VX140-type barriers in five different streams.
