Mounted on the roof of a gym in Mannheim, Geobrugg has developed a steel-/mesh structure serving as a ball catching net and safety fence for a playground . Thereby children play in safety at a windy height. The structure comprises a system of tubular section arches covered with ROMBO high-tensile steel mesh, centrally stabilized by a steel ring. In addition the crown shaped covering acts as a visual landmark in the Jungbusch quarter. The flexible handling of ROMBO high-tensile steel mesh makes it ideally suited for these types of coverings. It retains its shape, is vandal-proof and can resist high wind and snow loads. Because it can be adapted to nearly any kind of primary structure according to project requirements, it can be integrated into existing constructions as well as permitting the development of totally new designs which in addition to the safety aspect also satisfy architectural demands.
