The access road DC101 to the Merag ferry port on the island of Cres was exposed to frequent rockfall risk due to steep, weathered karst slopes above a heavily trafficked road. During peak summer periods, even small rockfall events posed serious danger to people, vehicles, and uninterrupted ferry operations. Traditional protection measures were insufficient for high-energy and complex impact scenarios, including simultaneous and eccentric block impacts. The installation of active slope stabilization with TECCO G45/2 mesh, combined with GBE-2000A and the ROCCO-2000 barrier, addressed both rock detachment and extreme impact conditions. This integrated solution transformed a high-risk bottleneck into a resilient and safe access route to critical island infrastructure.
