The provincial road at Tremosine-Tignale is traveled by thousands of people by bicycle, on foot or by car for the beautiful views of Lake Garda. The route follows an ancient and narrow incision in the rock. However, the high rock walls adjacent to the road are affected by intense fracturing caused by freeze and thaw cycles and rainwater infiltration. This favors the detachment of blocks of varying sizes, putting people’s safety and vehicles passing through at risk.
The safety works involved using DELTAX mesh to consolidate the portions of the rock walls located at lower altitudes. Rockfall protection barriers GBE-500A and GBE-1000A, capable of dissipating 500 kJ and 1000 kJ of energy, were installed to stop boulders from falling from areas located at higher altitudes.
