Flexible ring net barriers used for debris flow retention in Hasliberg, Switzerland

Following the devastating rainfalls of August 2005 in which the settlements of Hasliberg Reuti and Meiringen (Canton Bern, Switzerland) were flooded, a suitable debris flow barrier system had to be evaluated for the Milibach torrent in the “Gummen“ area of Canton Bern / Switzerland. On the basis of various criteria the promoters decided in favor of a series of high-tensile steel ring net barriers from Geobrugg.

We test rockfall barriers under the toughest conditions as a matter of course

RXI / AXI rockfall barriers for impact energies of 250 kJ to 5 000 kJ are tested according to the strictest directives of the Swiss Federal Environment Office (BAFU). They are characterized by minimal net deflection with maximum impact events, a large residual useful height in the impact zone and proven function capability with combined loads such as boundary zones, multiple impacts, tree falls and snow slides.

Temporary rockfall protection by means of a TECCO® drape in Iceland

The overflow from Europe’s largest artificial lake in Iceland drops as a waterfall into a canyon producing undesirable erosion. As a counter measure a retention dam is under construction. Following rock scaling of both canyon walls, the rock faces were secured with 17 000 m2 of TECCO® rockfall drape to protect the construction site workers.
