Following stringent tests in accordance with guideline ETAG 27 of the European Organization for Technical Approvals (EOTA), Geobrugg has been awarded European Technical Approval (ETA) for their GBE rockfall protection barriers. ETA approval can provide consent for the use of the CE marking. The principal feature of GBE barriers is their simple and speedy installation due to the light-weight mutually adapted components. See here the approval tests for GBE-1000A (1000kJ)
The TECCO slope stabilization system is a proven system for steep and greened slopes and can substitute shotcrete and other retaining structures. After the successful implementation of dozens of projects for the German Railway (DB Deutsche Bahn), Geobrugg succeeded in receiving as first and only system supplier a general approval for a slope stabilization system from the Authority of the German Railway (EBA). The guidelines for rockfall protection consider very standardized and repeatable load cases but cannot take possible extreme loads into account. Therefore, this paper investigates two examples of extreme loads: high-speed rockfalls where the impact velocity is well above 25 m/s as described in the testing guidelines, and a tree trunk strike with the same weight as a falling rock but with a much smaller impact area. This gives the planning engineer an impression whether a standard barrier system can still be considered. Read more in the technical documentation
