Our flexible shallow landslide barriers made from high-tensile steel wire protect roads, residential areas and railway lines. Comprehensive 1:1-tests in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL in three test installations have verified the function of these shallow landslide barriers.
The landslides were simulated by releasing large amounts of material. Test barriers are set up at the end of the acceleration zone to study not only the acting impact and filling loads, but also the interaction between the filling material and flexible barriers, and to investigate the occurring dynamic and static loads.
In contrast to flexible debris flow barriers shallow landslide barriers are intended to be applied on unchannelised slopes.
