Hybrid rockfall protection barriers (attenuators) are a combination of rockfall protection drapes/rockfall nettings and flexible rockfall protection barriers without bottom supporting ropes. They are used as passive protection measures: The barrier brakes the falling rocks and the drape enables them to roll under control into the catch zone. Several hybrid barriers can be installed in succession.
Wide-ranging tests in collaboration with the Federal Research Institute WSL have confirmed the protection effect of hybrid rockfall protection barriers.
