Flexible torrent and driftwood barriers with ring nets rather than rigid torrent and stream defense structures

Flexible debris flow barriers made of ring nets have proven their effectiveness. The inrushing debris flow is separated by the ring net structure: coarse debris are retained while water and fine material pass through. Flexible ring net barriers can be used as a

• debris flow breaker
• debris flow barrier
• debris flow barrier backed up to form a check dam
• or as a driftwood barrier.

Different torrent and debris flow barriers are used depending on the torrent width and project parameters:

For torrents with a width of upto 15 m VX ring net barriers without posts are installed laterally into the riverbed with spiral rope anchors, having flexible anchor heads. The ring net is fastened to the top support ropes equipped with rope brake rings and border ropes.

In the event of larger torrents, UX ring net barriers are installed with posts that are directly anchored to the torrent bed with spiral rope anchors having flexible head anchors. This type of protection system is suitable for a span exceeding 15 m.
